As my young daughter Michelle growing up fast, my time is all taken up by her activities such as homework, playing and music. Her music takes up much of our time. She plays piano and cello. I decided to put down my art work for a while till the time she is on her own. Well it will be soon!

Baby draw this in her school and win some art competition in her age group. She is very cheerful girl and so is the little girl in the painting. I just wondered why the face is green.

I just made this rectangle glass pendant measureing 1.5 "x 0.7" / 3.8 x 1.8 cm today. It's very lovely. I don't like big rectangles such as 1 7/8" x 7/8"/4.8 x 2.2cm. They are too bulky to me. I love the small sized one here.

To make this glass pendant, I moved a bit of the design so that it fits nicely into the round shaped glass tile. I think I really like the pendant. It is so charming. The round shape fits the painting better than the square one.

Baby's Work

Baby's one school term is finished for 2010. She has her art work brought back from her school. They are really lovely. I can see that many techniques are involved in creating the art work such as collage using color paper, magazine cut out and printing using hand, circle or other objects. The teachers are excellent in teaching 2 year old art.

My husband told me that he likes the girl without solid hair as in the first post of Early Summer. It is as the follows:

I wonder which one you like the better. I found it lacks a bit contrast without the solid hair. To compromise I lower a bit of the hair tone and add the lines for the hair as in the first image. But I do like the second image as well as it gives more romantic atmosphere. 

I created my profile in the local Singapore art gallery Fill Your Wall. I uploaded some big original paintings there as they are too heavy to be shipped outside Singapore. My gallery is at HERE.

My baby didn't go to school the whole week due to the hand foot and mouth disease case in her school. She talks more and more complete sentences now. Suddenly she likes to say "Hear me mommy, I want this, Hear me mommy I want that". If I don't react quickly enough to her request, she will repeatably says "Hear me". So funny.

It was very hot these days in Singapore. The school that my baby goes has several cases of Hand, Foot and Mouse disease. My baby has to stay at home for several days to avoid contracting the disease. She doesn't feel well with running nose today. I send her to the KK Women and Children Hospital to see her patrician to make sure she is fine. Over there I was very happy to see a real painting of Ang Ping Ping a Singaporean painter in the children clinic. From an interview about her work, she said that a lot of her work is inspired by her toddler son. Ya, you can feel it, don't you?    Work in Progress "Early Summer"

I just squeezed sometime to start this painting "Early Summer". I am not sure how the name came up. The recent hot weather and some news reports of early starting of summer in certain parts of the world may trigger the name. Anyway I think it is a romantic name.

Chinese New Year 2010

 We had a great break during Chinese New Year in my another house without Internet and TV. We spend whole time to play with my daughter and celebrate the new year with friends.

This is the glass pendant made from The Gardener.  After I listed it in Dawanda few days ago, I sold 2 of them and many people put it in their pin-board. I am glad that so many people like it. Chinese new year is closer. I feel the crowd everywhere. I guess people are taking leave to buy new year staff. I just bought these new year cookies and gathered some Hongbao. The Hongbao or Red Packet is used to store money to give to relatives who are still single. For me, mostly they are the children of my friends or neighbors because my relatives are all in China.

I know many other places are freezing now, but Singapore is getting hotter and hotter when the rainy season is almost over. Baby got her new swimming suit today. How lovely she is in her new swimming suit!

I just found that I am again being the most Popular Member in Dawanda. You become a popular member when many people put you into their pin-board. In Etsy, it would be people heart you. Lily Pond Flower Garden Original Watercolor Painting

I took some photos from a trip to the Singapore Botanical Garden last weekend. I plan to paint some of them that are pretty to me. The lily pond is one of them.

I just bought a small fish tank because baby loves looking at fishes. The fishes living inside are called Guppy which is a type of fish that Singapore exports a lot. By the way, Singapore is one of the biggest countries that export tropical aquarium fishes.

I would love to have a dog at home but am afraid that I have no time to take care of it. The fishes will be the only pet at the moment.

Little Flower on Port Flower Garden Original Watercolor Painting and Baby's New Semaster

I plucked this small flower plant, just very small part of the plant,  from one of my friend's garden and planted here in a small port in my balcony. It has very lovely flower and the leaves smell very good. It is kind of leaves that make message oil.

Now it grows so well in my port and starts to flower recently. I like many types of Singapore plants because it is so easy to populate them. You just need to pluck them from someone's port or roadside and they will grow in your port. I didn't find many types of such plants in China before.

It is just so convenient for me to paint the port. It is a small sized painting measures 5 x 7"/13 x 18cm.

I spent half a day in the last two days in my baby daughter's pre-nursery school. Her new semester just started in St. Joseph's Kindergarten this Monday. There are many new students joining in from the new year. The class is a bit chaotic with many children crying and looking for parents.

My baby seems much more mature now that she didn't cry at all. She enjoys very much on various school activities. Sometime when I saw some newborns and I try to remember how she looked when she was just born and how much I looked forward for her to walk and talk. Now she can run and jump and going to school. It will be very soon that she grows up.

I had a very miserable week. My daughter caught a very bad flu and was in high fever, coughing and running nose for a week. Someone told me it is normal that once children go to school, they will catch flu easily. Luckily she is fine now and back to her normal days.

I was joggling between Christmas packing and taking care of my daughter. Hope to do some new painting soon.

This is a really excellent question. I am also always asking myself what is my next chapter? I have been producing and selling art for about 3 years. I am very happy that I did produce some pieces of art that I love and some prints that are selling very well. But there is so much need to be improved and to learn.

 

Reading in the Library

Our family have moved to an apartment and my baby daughter is going to go  to a nursery school soon. She is going to have a new chapter in her life and so am I. I will spend more time with her and chauffeur her around. This is the most most important thing for me currently.

As for my art, I'll concentrate more on experimenting on new ways of expressing. Recently I have been using soften ways of creating dreamy romantic birds paintings. I also would like to try to create a character such as the ones in Spring and Girl and Peony. Of course, I'll continue to work on the things that are well accepted.

Levender has most beautiful purple hue. If you like purple and would like to decorate your house with some purple, levander is the one of the good choices.

If you use dried levender flowers, even after many many years, it still has the wonderful smell.

Baby also wants to paint. She grabs everything that I use and only wants what I use. I gave her different tubes of colors, she refuses and wants to have mine. Haha..

It was a very busy day today. I am in the mood of making glass pendants these days because normally I print the designs in a batch. After printing them, I like to work on them and see how nice they are with a glass tile.

I like these two pendants very much. They are made with 15/16" or 2.3 cm square glass tiles. It's so nice to see a painting shrink into a square glass tile. I think they are very unique and show characters than those made with mass produced papers.

I just sold one of my favorite illustration in Laptop Skin In Converstation. I like the whimsical colors and design. But I feel, most of the time that something I like will not be a best seller. Sigh...

My domestic helper came back from her home leave. I am thinking of doing some watercolor and acrylic painting for the next few weeks. I miss painting very much.

Look at my baby, she is wearing Indonesian batik dress my helper brought for her. The dress is made with cloth mixed with shinny gold color thread. Very cute!

Oh, I wasted 3 or 4 hours in Singapore's KK Women and Children hospital walk in clinic. I brought my daughter there because she refuses to eat well these days. I was surprise there were so many people there than used to be. I waited about 4 hours and still there were so many people ahead of us. I gave up and came back home before seing the doctors. I think I'll call them to make an appointment instead.

I was wondering that is it because Singapore suddenly has increased so many more people or that KKH attracts more patients? I think the later maybe the reason. I trust KKH doctors very much and I think others may well be the same.

Gong Xi New Year

These days are Chinese Spring Festival or Chinese New Year. On the first day of Chinese New Year, my baby daughter wears new year cloth and looking at the goody bag given to her. It contains oranges, hong bao and some sweets. It is fun time for Children because they collect hong baos and mix with some children that they seldom see before.

Singapore is in the festival mood. There are many places filled with new year activities such as flower exhibition and new year specail show. We wen to the River Hong Bao that is near the Singapore opera house Esplanade. The place is decorated with traditional Chinese figures and other decorations. My baby explored here and there and had lots of fun.
