Lily Pang Art
Lily Pang Art and Design, Gardening, Painting
This is transformed from the previous painting "A Girl Wearing Qi Bao".
I don't quite like the effect of this painting and rework it with the map and newspaper collage. I feel that the map represents the mountains and rivers of a village very well.
I feel that the roses along is very nice. I add some music notes as background to enhance the romantic feeling of the piece.
Just a note, this is developed by following the photo in the blog
"Inspiration Around Us". This week, it has a rose photo for inspiration.
The following are
Large Laminated Prints (LL) and
Laminated Print Mounted on Woodblock (LPWB).
I came across this blog
"Inspiration Around Us". This week, it has a rose photo for inspiration. The roses are nice but it is a bit difficult.
I was initially not serious on working on it, just drawing roses for fun till the roses turned out to be interesting.
I sketched several versions of them, tried watercolor and finally settled on this illustration.
To add some interesting to the background, I add the Chinese calligraphy images.
I like how the roses turned out to be.
I managed to create the Lotus Pond using reductive printmaking method as well. The print is created by the several steps involving cutting and applying colors:
- cut away the white flower part, apply pink color
- cut away the pink flower part, apply green color
- cut away the green background, apply dark green color
- ink dark red in the plate and wipe away the dark red in the lotus leaves part in the plate so that the dark red only apply to the lotus flower bud
I like the pink shining through the green.

Silkscreen Print
I went to a printmaking exhibition last night in "The Blank Canvas" art gallery. It is an exhibition of series of artworks by 8 emerging print making artists. I like this silkscreen piece.
I finished the painting as the first thing in the morning. I adjust some colors to make it more autumn look.
I like the texture from cutting the board.
I set up painting studio in my balcony now. It is bright and nice with fresh air.
Size:
6 x 7.5"/15 x 19cm
Medium: PVC foam board and Acrylic Painting
I feel very attracted to the texture of the PVC foam board that I cut to created relief printing plate. For example, the poppies plate:
I thought it would be very nice to paint on the board using acrylic painting. It will have the texture from the cutting.
This is what happened to the "The Red Tree" painting. It has the beautiful texture similar to the one that is created using texture medium.
The Detail Texture
The PVC foam board is about 3mm thick. Thus it is quite nice to be framed as a usual acrylic painting.
This is the limited edition relief print from linoleum cut. I am thinking of making 5 editions.
The print is printed on heavy watercolor paper.
I also try something new. I print one version using Acrylic Black Color and then apply watercolor on it. The first one is using water based ink and it is not suitable for watercolor wash, i.e., the black color will come out and make other colors dirty.
I like the color version as well. It is very pretty.
This is a brooch made from the painting
Magnolia and Bird. I have glass pendant made as well with the same painting and it is a very popular design. It is very nice to be made as a brooch I think.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
A new technique of printmaking using reductive method was taught in last week printmaking class. The reductive method prints something on a paper and then cut some away to make another printing on the same paper till you get the final result.
It requires a lot of planning to work on this method such as the colors, sequence of cutting needed and number of editions you want to produce.
In this work, I planned to print two pieces. I position them using tapes to align them properly during subsquent layers of printing. The gomuban
, an easy to carve vinyl rubber plate is secured in the middle.
Once I printed the color I wanted, I cut away it and thus it will not be covered during the subsequent printing.
This is the third printing and last one, when the light colored green is cut away.
This one is created by using the final plate with black ink. I found the black and white one is also very pretty.
I made this Spring Large Laminated Print measures 16 x 20"/40 x 50cm. The customer is going to mount it on a foam board. It is really nice when it is printed in such a big piece.
I found these lovely brass brooch frames in a jewelry supply store some time ago. I love the oval shape and the lace frame. It would be perfect to make some brooches with my paintings.
It is a long weekend because of Singapore National Day. The visitors have left and now I have more time. I made quite number of them using my paintings today. Each brooch is made with a print from my paintings and covered with thick layer of resin to give a beautiful sparkling glass look.
Size: 1-7/16" x 1-3/4"/35 x 45mm. The image measures 3/4" x 1"/19 x 25mm.
It would be a perfect item to add sparkle to any type of outfit.
This print is made from the cutting board with colors during print making. I added colors on the poppies to be more interesting. The print is pulled from pressure machine.
This is a limited edition prints of 5.
Most of the time I was processing the orders these days for my work. My baby daughter is staying at home all day these days after she came back from hospital for a minor infection. I will only send her to school when she is fully recovered.
This is a
Laminated Print mounted on Wood Block of the print
Me and Nature - Passionate and Mischievousness. It is fresh made for a customer order. I put the wood block on top of a teak cabinet for the photo. It looks beautiful with the amaryllis.
I have been very busy these days. My daughter caught flu and was hospitalized for two days. I guess maybe we have too many people in the house during summer vocation. It is very easy to pass around the germs.
Just made these pretty elegant rectangle glass pendant for a customer order. It is from
Secrete Garden painting.
The pendant is mailed out in a pretty jewelry box so that you can give it as a gift.
